Archea Associati Beijing has undergone a change for the better. In September the firm moved from the office in Beijing where it commenced its activities in 2005 to new office premises located not far from the Xihai lake, in the Xicheng district. The new firm occupies a prestigious building inside the second ring of the city, in area that is not only distinguished by the presence of the lake but also by the traditional hutongs or alleys formed by rows of dwellings organized around courts, the so-called siheyuan, which have by now become a national historical heritage. The neighbourhood in which the firm is based today is nevertheless highly contemporary, thanks to the presence of an inspiring multiplicity of offices operating in the fields of art, design and architecture.
While the exterior of the building consists of a somewhat massive architecture accompanied by a glazed entrance volume, the interior and the furniture echo those of the other branches of Archea Associati: the two floors and the terrace above feature a minimalistic design, characterized by a refined choice of materials and a unifying chromatic range. The research activities of Archea Associati Beijing vary in scale from interior design to town planning, comprising research projects on the issues of the Chinese metropolis. With its international team of architects, the firm is able to satisfy the requirements of different types of clients: private operators, real estate firms and institutions.
