The event, conceived as a conversation about the relationship between architecture, identity, and well-being, featured a discussion between Elora Hardy, founder of IBUKU, Laura Andreini, and Giulio Rigoni, an associate at BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group.

The discussion centered on the theme of site specificity, understood as architecture’s ability to establish a deep connection with a place, interpreting its characteristics, identity, materials, and culture to shape spaces capable of fostering well-being.
Through a comparison of different design experiences and approaches, the discussion explored architecture’s role in building a conscious relationship between the individual and the environment, moving beyond the idea of the project as an autonomous object to instead consider it as part of a broader system of relationships. The site thus becomes not merely the context in which architecture is situated, but an active component of the design process.

Laura Andreini’s participation brought to the discussion the vision and experience of Archea Associati, which has always been committed to seeking a synthesis between architecture, landscape, materials, and culture. This approach views the site-specific nature of a location as a fundamental premise for defining the project and for creating spaces capable of expressing a distinct identity, while maintaining a strong connection to their context.
Through a discussion with Elora Hardy and Giulio Rigoni, the talk offered a broad reflection on how architecture can contribute to quality of life and well-being, exploring the value of place identity and the project’s ability to interpret the environmental, social, and cultural characteristics of each context.

“Site Specificity: Well-being from Places” thus provided an opportunity to discuss one of the central issues in contemporary design: how to create architecture that authentically belongs to its location and, through this relationship, generates new forms of individual and collective well-being.

On October 2, 2026, Laura Andreini participated in the talk “Site Specificity: Well-being from Places,” part of the Montecatini Terme Biennale program.
