{"id":77260,"date":"2021-08-14T11:00:16","date_gmt":"2021-08-14T09:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.archea.it\/?post_type=progetto&#038;p=77260"},"modified":"2025-06-18T13:06:28","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T11:06:28","slug":"private-apartment","status":"publish","type":"progetto","link":"https:\/\/www.archea.it\/en\/progetto\/private-apartment\/","title":{"rendered":"Private Apartment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"s2\">The building that houses this private residence, built between 1951 and 1953, <\/span><span class=\"s2\">is located in<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> via Solferino, in a residential quarter that runs along the bank of the <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Arno River<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, with the Santa Maria Novella Railway Station on one side, and the Parco <\/span><span class=\"s2\">delle<\/span> <span class=\"s2\">Cascine<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> on the other, close to the original site of the Teatro <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Comunale<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> di Firenze, demolished in 2021. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">This area was already densely urbanised in the latter half of the 19th century, while, until the beginning of the 20th century, a canal called <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Fosso<\/span> <span class=\"s2\">Macinante<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, ran down the centre section of the street. It was <\/span><span class=\"s2\">completely filled<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> in at the beginning of the century, to form the current configuration which is basically the same today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">The project design of this apartment dedicates particular importance to the introduction of the internal stairway element, that curves in an elegant <\/span><span class=\"s2\">spiral to<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> connect the sixth, seventh, eight, and ninth floors. It covers a total area of 390 square metres, integrating all levels in a single volume. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">The largest area of the property is on the sixth floor, and hosts the living rooms, and two bedrooms; the <\/span><span class=\"s2\">seventh floo<\/span><span class=\"s3\">r<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> habitation <\/span><span class=\"s2\">area was reduced to incorporate a small covered swimming pool and a larger surface, designed as a garden terrace. On the other hand, the eighth floor is composed of a smaller living space that consists of a kitchen with a panoramic glass wall, and a terrace, while the <\/span><span class=\"s2\">ninth floor<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> forms terraced roofing for the floor below.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">The intervention consisted in the restoration of all the deteriorated elements including the recovery of all the iron components, replacement of all the window openings, renovation of all the external paving and all the plastered surfaces. The project also included the architectural renovation of the interior spaces, where special <\/span><span class=\"s3\">attention was focussed on the flooring, laid in light coloured, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">Hungarian herringbone parquet and travertine <\/span><span class=\"s4\">slab flooring, that in certain areas are combined, maintaining the same herringbone pattern. The <\/span><span class=\"s5\">boiseries<\/span><span class=\"s3\">, applied in vertical lines play a key role in covering the internal walls, creating a subtle play of contrast with the plastered areas and the flooring.
