The property located in Florence at <\/span>Lungarno<\/span> Serristori<\/span> 15-17-19 is part of the complex of outbuildings belonging to Palazzo <\/span>Serristori<\/span>. The building, located in the San Niccol\u00f2 neighborhood of <\/span>Oltrarno<\/span>, occupies a position of <\/span>particular urban<\/span> and scenic significance, with a direct view of the Arno River, and features a private garden of approximately 1,500 square meters, accessible from the perpendicular Via Lupo.<\/span><\/p>\n

The complex features an \u201cL\u201d-shaped floor plan, consisting of a main wing facing the <\/span>Lungarno<\/span> and a secondary wing arranged perpendicular to it. The main wing spans three above-ground floors, in addition to a basement level, while the secondary wing consists of two above-ground floors and a small underground section.<\/span><\/p>\n

The main wing, known as Villa San Giorgio, was built between 1875 and 1877 based on a design by architect Eugenio Falciani. The main fa\u00e7ade on the <\/span>Lungarno<\/span> Serristori<\/span> features a tripartite composition, with a rusticated base punctuated by eleven arches and two upper orders of openings clearly inspired by the Renaissance, echoing the architectural characteristics of the nearby Palazzo <\/span>Serristori<\/span>. String courses and a projecting cornice complete the fa\u00e7ade\u2019s composition. The secondary wing, of older origin, <\/span>dates back to<\/span> the mid-17th century and was originally a service annex to the garden of Palazzo <\/span>Serristori<\/span>, intended as a \u201clarge room for pots and citrus trees.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The facades of Villa San Giorgio underwent restoration work aimed at restoring their original architectural and decorative features. The project included reopening the large arches on the ground floor facing the <\/span>Lungarno<\/span> and the garden, restoring the rusticated stonework, decorative elements, and lintels of the facade facing the Arno, as well as restoring the wooden windows and doors. The project has restored clarity and transparency to the architectural composition, highlighting the relationship between the main fa\u00e7ade and the rear fa\u00e7ade.<\/span><\/p>\n

From a functional standpoint, the project maintains the building\u2019s use as an office complex, organizing it into two distinct areas: the exhibition space, which houses the <\/span>Casamonti<\/span> Collection of modern and contemporary art, and the office spaces and associated services.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Casamonti<\/span> Collection, accessible from <\/span>Lungarno<\/span> Serristori<\/span>, occupies the basement and the first floor of the main building, covering a total area of approximately 1,400 square meters. The new layout of the collection encompasses a total of 32 rooms, distributed across the two levels, <\/span>organized according to a structured and continuous exhibition itinerary designed in relation to the building\u2019s architectural and spatial characteristics.<\/span><\/p>\n

The administrative spaces, accessible both from the <\/span>Lungarno<\/span> and from the adjacent garden\u2014whose entrance is located on Via Lupo\u2014will be organized according to a functional layout to be defined based on usage requirements and the subsequent phases of the project\u2019s completion.<\/span><\/p>\n
