On Monday, April 13, the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid hosted the event “Casa Italia Madrid Living-Lab – IIC Madrid: A Case Study,” organized by the Department of Architecture, Building and Construction (DABC) at the Politecnico di Milano. The event marked the first opportunity for discussion focused on the revitalization of the Institute’s historic headquarters, located in the Palacio de Abrantes in the heart of the Spanish capital.
The event was part of a broader research project coordinated by the team led by Professor Stefano Capolongo, aimed at defining innovative strategies for the redevelopment of the building, an important piece of Italian architectural and cultural heritage abroad.
Laura Andreini also took part in the meeting; her presence enriched the discussion with a contemporary design perspective on the theme of historic heritage enhancement, citing as an example the significant and recently completed project of the National Theater of Florence. The initiative also looks to the Institute’s future, with the aim of strengthening its role as an international hub for the promotion of Italian culture, particularly in view of the 90th anniversary of its founding in 2029.
