On February 17, 2026, Archea Associati presented its redevelopment project for the Stadio Flaminio to Società Sportiva Lazio. The meeting, which took place in Rome, provided an opportunity for public discussion on the future of one of the most significant sports complexes in Italian architecture of the late 20th century.

The Flaminio Stadium, designed in the 1950s by Pier Luigi Nervi, is a work of recognized historical and structural value. The project presented fits into this context, focusing on the desire to combine the preservation of the original architectural identity with functional adaptation to contemporary needs, both in terms of safety and comfort and services.

During the presentation, which was attended by club president Claudio Lotito and Pierluigi Nervi, grandson (and namesake) of the architect who designed the stadium, the general guidelines for the project were outlined. These include the restoration and enhancement of existing structures, the technological upgrading of the facility, and a reorganization of the spaces aimed at improving the spectator experience and integration with the surrounding urban fabric. Particular attention was paid to aspects of environmental sustainability and flow management, with the aim of ensuring efficient and continuous use of the structure.

The initiative is part of a broader debate on the reuse of historic sports architecture and its role in the contemporary urban system. Yesterday’s presentation provided an opportunity to share the design vision and initiate a dialogue with institutions, professionals, and representatives of the sports world on the prospects for the stadium’s transformation.
