The Pilar & Viga collection, designed by Marco Casamonti for TOOY, stems from a reinterpretation of two fundamental elements of construction: the pillar and the beam. Their geometric simplicity is transposed into the world of light, transforming two architectural archetypes into luminous forms with a strong sculptural character.
Pilar and Viga thus translate structural logic into a lighting system capable of establishing a direct relationship with space. The light, directed vertically or horizontally depending on the configuration, does more than simply illuminate the environment; it defines its surfaces, volumes, and perceptions, creating atmospheres through a balance of material, geometry, and light.
The project stems from the idea of incorporating an architectural concept into the object’s design: the possibility of transforming a structural element into a spatial device. The proportions, repetition, and combination of individual elements allow the collection to take on different configurations, adapting to the scale and needs of contemporary spaces.
The metal structure, available in Bronzed Steel and Beige finishes, accentuates the object’s minimalist character and its relationship with light. The result is a family of lamps in which the function of illumination coincides with the construction of the form, in a continuous dialogue between architectural element and design object.
