The Rocco B. Commisso Viola Park, ACF Fiorentina’s training center in Bagno a Ripoli, south of Florence, is the subject of a publication by Forma Edizioni, dedicated to the project and its relationship with the landscape, history, and architecture.
Born from the desire to create a sports complex integrated into the Arno Plain, Viola Park interprets the traces of Roman centuriation and highlights the archaeological remains uncovered during excavations. The project combines the preservation of historical heritage—through the restoration of an 18th-century villa—with the construction of new facilities for sports, medical services, and residential use.
The project stands out for its attention to integration into the landscape, the selection of materials, and environmental sustainability strategies, outlining a system in which architecture and nature work together to define a unified identity.
This volume documents a project that reflects on the role of architecture in the creation of contemporary spaces capable of connecting function, memory, and context.
