On October 27, at the Auditorium del Massimo in Rome, architect Marco Casamonti spoke at the forum “Living Through Change – From Product to Destination,” dedicated to the evolution of open-air hospitality and new perspectives on mobile homes.
In his presentation, “From Product to Architecture,” Marco Casamonti explored the role of architectural research in rethinking the mobile home, moving beyond a purely industrial conception to explore its potential in terms of spatial quality, comfort, and identity.
At the heart of this reflection was the research project developed by Archea Associati in collaboration with Crippaconcept, which involved 75 students in experimentation centered on a single object. The project investigated the relationship between mobility and comfort, standardization and identity, temporariness and a sense of belonging, exploring design solutions related to materials, light, and the relationship between interior space and nature.
The mobile home thus becomes an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of housing models and the role of architecture in responding to new demands for flexibility and quality of life. This research broadens the perspective from the individual product to the context in which it is situated, recognizing the relationship with the landscape and shared spaces as a fundamental component of the experience.
